Mission Statement 2010 - 2011
As the MN orchestra, we aim to empower the lives of young people through
exploration of joyous music. We seek to create unity and individual musicality
by fostering excellence through leadership.
Announcements
Orchestra Parents Association (OPA) will be hosting a Potluck for
ALL orchestra students and their families on September 11.
Download the poster which announces the details of the Potluck at the South/Southwest Y on Saturday, September 11, beginning at 6:30 pm and running until 10 pm. We’ll begin with the most important thing – FOOD – and then move on to announcements and discussions.
At this time, students can leave the meeting to go swimming or participate in other Y-approved activities. If your student wants to participate in other activities, you will need to sign a waiver. Your student can get this from Mrs. Martinez or you can sign one at the potluck.
Parents, students, and siblings are all invited to attend. Please RSVP as soon as possible in order for the Y to have the appropriate staff on hand for the event.

MP3 FILES OF All-State Instrumental Etudes ARE Now Available
New audition etudes will be used for the 2010 All-State Band and Orchestra.

computer generated mp3 files provided by the composers. In some cases they may
differ slightly from the printed music. These files may be used as examples of proper
pitch and rhythm. They should not be used as an example of tone or interpretation.
The correct audition music for 2010 is labeled with the year – 2010 – and as “Set C.” There are no new audition etudes for the Jazz Band. However, all jazz students should use the version of the etudes identified as “2010 – Set C.” The correct music for the 2010 All-State Jazz Band may be downloaded at the links above.
